Save The Date: Arizona CSPD Week Returns!
Arizona is proud to announce the return of CSPD Week! Hundreds of Arizona K-12 teachers will come together from June 20th - June 24th, 2022 to learn, network, create community, and continue to expand high-quality, inclusive, and rigorous Computer Science education for all K-12 students across the state of Arizona.
CSTA-Arizona Community Calls
We host monthly community calls for teachers to meet other computer science educators in Arizona, learn about opportunities in their area, and develop their own CS skills and pedagogy.  Thank you to everyone who attended our January community call - A recording of the call and the slides are available here!
 
Our next community call is February 1st, 2022. The agenda is:
  • Introductions and CSPD Week Updates
  • Virtual Networking - Get to know other educators across Arizona!

CSTA-Arizona News & Updates
CSforEL Professional Development Program
The CSforEL Project is a new 4-year research project funded by the U.S. Department of Education, designed to attract, retain, and engage English learners (EL) in AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) throughout Arizona, New Mexico, San Diego County, and Orange County.

CSforEL Benefits for Participating Districts

Participating districts and schools will receive:
  • Increased enrollment of English learners in AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP)
  • Increased number of qualifying scores by English learners in AP CSP
  • 40+ hours of professional development over the summer and throughout the school year per cohort
  • 10+ hours of professional development over the summer for at least one principal and counselor per participating school

CS Across the Curriculum Summit
Computer science can ENHANCE learning of all subject areas. At the virtual CS Across the Curriculum Summit, teachers will explore ways to integrate computer science into all subjects and grade levels. The summit is tailored for teachers who teach any subject in grades K-12 or are already a computer science teacher, with pathways in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, Social Studies/History and Visual/Performing Arts, and other subjects.
