Upcoming News and Events

CSTA-Arizona is committed to building community amongst Arizona CS Educators - far too often, we may feel like the only teacher in our building (or district) who identifies as a "Computer Science Teacher", which can be an isolating experience.

We want to change that.

Below are several CSTA-Arizona events - both virtual and in-person - to help you connect with other CS educators in Arizona and build your own CS Faculty Lounge of colleagues and collaborators. Many events are recurring at the same date, time, and place every month.

We hope to see you there!
CSTA-Arizona Community Events
Phoenix K-12 Teacher Meetup
Join CSTA-Arizona and the Arizona Science Center on September 19th for a K-12 CS Teacher Meetup where we discuss various topics in CS. Our meetups are guided by your interest, curiosity, and love of teaching CS. We meet for camaraderie and to build community.  We are open to elementary, middle, and high school teachers. If you have a project, an idea, a lesson that went well, please feel free to share with the group!

Tucson K-12 Teacher Meetup
CSTA-Arizona and the University of Arizona CS Department host K-12 Teacher Meetups on the second Wednesday of each month. These events are opportunities to meet other local Computer Science educators, have dinner on us, and participate in a Computer Science activity to grow your CS professional knowledge. These events are modeled after Math Teacher Circles, where rich and engaging computer science content is presented along with strategies on how to implement ideas in the classroom.

September Focus:
Topic: Teaching new programming concepts using the PRIMM model
Presenter: Dan Schneider, Code.org Curriculum Development Manager
Please bring a device - preferably a laptop - to participate fully in this session

Arizona Virtual Community Call
CSTA-Arizona hosts monthly virtual community calls on the first Tuesday of each month to maintain connections with Arizona CS educators and stakeholders. It is a chance to hear about projects happening with CS in Arizona and connect with potential collaborators or teachers in your region. The call structure is informal and community-led. Click here to access our Community Call agenda information.
